About the Humboldt Fellows Association (Philippines)

The Humboldt Fellows Association (Philippines) is an organization of Filipino scientists and academics who were recipient of the Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellowship. The association was formally organized during the Humboldt Colloquium for SE Asia held in Hanoi on 12-14 November 2010.

The Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellowship is highly respected all over the world. It is open to all scientists from any academic field and country. The most important criterion for selection is outstanding scientific achievement as evidenced by scientific papers published in refereed international journals. Fellows have the opportunity to conduct long-term research of their choice in any university or research center in Germany and afterwhich they continue to receive research, equipment, and travel support for life. Since the fellowship started in the 1950s, 44 former Humboldt fellows and award winners have already won the Nobel Prize.

The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation is funded by the Federal Foreign Office, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety of Germany as well as a number of national and international partners. The Foundation is named in honor of one of the greatest natural scientists and explorers in the 19th century, Alexander von Humboldt.
